many of you might remember that one of our three cats has cancer.  her dying process has been slow, and her treatments have extended her life and quality of life beyond what anyone would have expected.  symptoms first started showing up almost a year and a half ago.  and yet, she is still alive and kicking.

having cancer has, however, created a few problems.  for instance, she, for some reason, no longer grooms herself the way that she should.  and so, even with our help, mats built up quickly and became uncomfortable.

we knew something needed to be done.  what was going to be less stressful?  either way, the mats needed to be removed.  d decided to borrow a pair of clippers from the vet hospital.  and we spent one very long and grueling evening shaving her down, saving her from the agony of the mats.  unfortunately, the incident was a little tramatic.  and subsequently, what was once a beautiful cat is now quite quite ugly.  and she may remain that way until the day she dies.  who can say?

what i do know is that she is incredibly spoiled.  she gets to clean up all the scraps around here.  her particular favorites are the scraps of eggs in the morning.  and so, she is no longer shy about climbing on top of a plate and licking it clean.

d caught this series of photos i thought i would share.  not the best quality, but cute nonetheless.
