oh oh! inspirational moment~

June 1, 2012

oh, i’ve had a probably not unique idea.  since gardening is such a huge theme in my life right now, and seems to be for so many of us, how about we start something!

send me pictures of YOUR gardens, and i’ll post them here!

and i think we can use the term ‘garden’ loosely.  for instance, whether you’ve got 10 sprawling acres or a pot of basil, all are accepted here.  and if you’ve got a short story to share about the photo too, that’s okay.

let’s call it good garden fridays.

send your photos to: hughesandhome@gmail.com

make sure they’re jpegs and include your info, like a link to a blog.

and we’ll post and share and create a community together that feels good.

Lauren – this is a wonderful idea! You may have heard that we have revived the vegetable garden this year. So now in addition to the asparagus, raspberries and a few herbs that have been growing every year, we have more herbs, green beans, cucumbers, a variety of peppers, carrots and, of course, tomatoes. Our compost pile has been the source of our pumpkins every fall for years. (One spring I noticed something growing and decided to keep an eye on it. Turned out to be the pumpkins that we had composted that past fall. So now we continue to throw the seeds into the pile after carving and await for the sprouts every spring.) The garden’s revival is a group effort with Mia and Lillian spearheading the project. Karen has claimed a “stake” since the puppies are too rowdy to keep a garden in her yard. Even Bob – who has never gardened – is joining in the work and is excited to be able to pick his own food.
I am looking forward to sharing stories and exchanging gardening ideas as the summer progresses! Thanks for creating a forum for this!!!
