swift

August 29, 2012

when things get  stale in the hot summer heat, nothing brings about vigor like a new knitting project.  and where does it all start?  with a pile of yarn.  yarn of all colors and textures.  and there are so many beautiful things to choose from.  it can truly become an obsession.  but i’ve been eying these lovely little tunics for a while, and it seemed to me like the girls could not live if they did not receive one each for their birthdays.

so, i dreamed for a while.  and the yarn and colors were chosen.  in the mail, the package arrived.  and then it was time to pull out the ball winder and swift.  if you’re a knitter you know that many quality yarn producers have skeins that remain unwound at the time of purchase to preserve the fiber content.  but when you, as a knitter, must then make something of this humble skein, it’s time to wind!

there’s nothing more enjoyable for the kids.  and it’s normally a ball or two, here and there, that needs tending to.  but a project like this?  it takes many balls and colors.  and this means lots of swift time!  what could more entertaining?

and the project?  and ravelry notes?  check back tomorrow! ;)  with all that beautiful yarn, you don’t think i could sit idly by, do you?
