apple picking

October 3, 2012

every year, we go apple picking.  we are normally accompanied by our long time friend.  but, this time around, things didn’t quite work out.  and truly, it wasn’t the same.  but, we did find a new orchard that we love with lots of beautiful apples.  and adelaide actually got to pick apples.  it was so exciting to see her interact with nature, to feel the rhythm, to understand that with the changing of the seasons comes a change in life and produce and the bounty of the earth.

my camera ran out of batteries.  someone – i’ll not mention who – decided to clean the garage a little and take some pictures of items to put on craigslist… just saying.  and then, neither of us could find my charger.  Drats!  so, instead of photos, we took video.  i’m not really any good with the flip.  and i missed so many good photographic moments.  but, i know you’ll still love seeing the girls pick apples this fall.

there are many things i could with these apples.  we’ll need a lot a LOT of applesauce.  maybe a pie… i’ll be sure to photograph whatever i do. :)

it’s in utica – branstool orchard. we really liked it. they are open all week for picking. we used to go to lynd’s and it was so much fun there. but, they have limited hours and are very crowded – which can mean they are picked over. and after you go picking, stop by velvet ice cream. it’s ‘quaint’, but you can go on a tour of the factory, obviously have ice cream, sit by a pond with ducks and geese, eat at a restaurant, see the old mill and play on a playground. :)
